CHIROPRACTIC THERAPY aids the health of the body's nervous system, in a natural non-invasive way. It is based on the philosophy of the body being a self-healing system. Natural healing is about using therapies that assist the body's innate ability to correct an imbalance. Chiropractors are licensed doctors who specialize in the Spinal Adjustment and in the location and correction of Spinal Subluxations. As a chiropractor I am educated to determine when a condition requires a non-medical or a medical solution and am responsible to refer patients to the appropriate healthcare provider when necessary.
Today's healthcare system recognizes the need to integrate modern chiropractic care into mainstream treatment options. It has become common for chiropractors to receive referrals from medical institutions and private practitioners. With their specific knowledge, experience and training chiropractors are able to successfully treat many health conditions without the use of drugs and/or surgery.
In addition to correcting your current symptoms, we are also concerned with preventing future problems. Prevention may include doing certain exercises and making adjustments to your diet and lifestyle etc.
My ultimate goal as a Chiropractor is to keep my patients pain free and healthy. I like to bring them to the point where they rarely need to see me except for the occasional checkup and maintenance treatment to insure the optimum quality of life.
Chiropractic Manipulation -- Specific
manipulations applied to vertebrae that have abnormal
movement patterns or fail to function normally. The
objective
is to reduce the subluxation, which results in an
increased range of motion, reduced nerve irritability
and improved function.
Diversified Technique -- is the classic chiropractic technique, to address biomechanical failure in each section of the spine, as it relates to specific subluxation. Diversified methods have been developed to adjust extremity joints in treating sports injuries and other injuries. X-rays and case histories are used in analysis and diagnosis.
Neuro Emotional Technique, or NET -- is
a Mind/Body methodology used to normalize unresolved
physical and/or behavioral patterns in the body.
NET is used to help re-establish
balance in the body using a physical correction.
NET makes use of the neuro-mechanisms of speech,
general semantics, emotions, acupuncture and chiropractic
principles, laws of the meridian system, cutaneous
reflex points, principles of traditional psychologyPatients
report that this quick and easy process is pleasant
and often life changing.
Trigger Point Therapy -- is the elimination of myofascial pain syndrome caused by hyper irritable areas in muscles. Trigger point therapy is performed in several ways. The least invasive is through the application of direct pressure. Trigger point involves direct pressure to and stretching of the affected musculature. The technique affects the body by eliminating the accumulation of waste in the muscle.
Motion Analysis (Palpation) -- is
based upon the conclusion that a
vertebra cannot be displaced or remain displaced
if some anomaly in the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments,
articular capsule, etc.) exists. Motion Analysis
is a comprehensive diagnosis that helps the doctor
to apply treatment in the most beneficial way.
Applied Kinesiology -- can determine health imbalances in the body's organs and glands by identifying weaknesses in specific muscles. Stimulation or relaxation in these key muscles allows an Applied Kinesiologist to diagnose and resolve a variety of health problems. Applied Kinesiology aims to restore postural balance, correct gait impairment and improve range of motion, restore normal nerve function, achieve normal endocrine, immune, digestive, and other internal organ functions.
Network -- is an approach to wellness
that applies low force touch contacts, applied at
the
spinal gateways, to cue the nervous system to develop
new strategies for living and healing. This approach
combines patient-reported wellness profiles with
the practitioner's clinical assessment. Rather than
attempting to fix or control any
problem -- including nerve tension, pressure, stress,
pain, fixation or subluxation -- or to return a patient
to a previous state, a Network practitioner will
seek to promote new properties within the nervous
system and spinal tissues.
People have been turning to chiropractic health care for over a century. They have sought treatment for a wide variety of ailments, from migraines to heel pain. The following is a brief summary of circumstances where chiropractic can benefit you.
Pain -- Interruption of proper nerve flow, for whatever reason, can eventually lead to pain, disability, and an overall decrease in the quality of life. You don't need to live with it— we can help you get to the root of the problem, set your body up to heal, and restore your health.
Sports- or Work-related
Injury --
When a subluxation
has been caused by repetitive
stress or overuse at work
or play, spinal nerves may
be impeded. This may in turn
negatively affect one's range
of motion, strength, reflexes,
endurance, and, ultimately,
performance. Chiropractic
can help your body restore
normal nerve function and
help you get back to your
peak in both play and work.
Accident -- Any
accident, no matter how minor,
can create nerve-damaging
misalignments. Trauma can
cause spinal misalignments
in the body which can in
turn distort your structure
and irritate your nerves,
bones, ligaments and discs.
We can give you a spinal
check-up to ensure that your
spine is free from
these health-compromising
changes and to prevent any
long-term damage.
Regular Maintenance
-- Even if you
feel as though you're
operating at 110% or better,
chiropractic can help
you maintain your desired
level of health and fitness.
You may currently have
spinal irregularities
that exhibit no
symptoms whatsoever. However,
problems may arise in the
future. Just as regular maintenance
visits are recommended for
your car, and regular dental
cleanings and
check-ups are recommended
for your teeth, regular chiropractic
check-ups can help detect
and prevent spinal stress
or joint disorders. The time
and energy saved due to your
preventive efforts can be
spent on things that are
fun to do.
Pregnancy -- The
additional weight and stress
on the framework of the body
during pregnancy can cause
pain in
almost any part of the body.
Because pregnant women are
often reluctant to take any
over-the- counter and prescription
pain relievers, they often
turn to chiropractic care
to help alleviate pains associated
with pregnancy. In addition,
we can also offer lifestyle
(especially nutrition and
exercise) advice specific
to the expectant mother.
Children and Babies -- Babies and children grow quickly, and their bones, muscles, and ligaments develop rapidly. Their spine (and possibly the nervous system), can be affected by jarring of the body with a jump, tumble, or fall and then go undetected for years. Simple factors, such as a an ill-fitting car seat or weighted backpack can have a negative impact on your child's health. With these things in mind, it's evident that babies and children have much to gain from chiropractic care. Regular spinal exams can provide corrective and preventive care for "little ones," as well as peace of mind for the parent. We can also offer advice to parents regarding how to pick up and carry a child and, for post-partum mothers, an assessment of any structural changes that may have occurred during pregnancy, labor, and/or delivery.
Teenagers -- Teenagers'
bodies are also growing at
a rapid rate. This, combined
with the fact that teenagers
often think they are invincible,
sets them up for a wide range
of physical problems. Imagine
your teenager hearing from
someone other than you the
benefits of proper diet,
exercise, posture, and other
good
lifestyle habits!
Seniors -- There are numerous physical problems associated with aging, and drugs and surgery are often prescribed to treat these problems. There is little, if any, attention paid to actually fixing these problems— and little or no emphasis on preventing them. Chiropractors understand the effects of aging and have been helping folks deal with the aches and pains associated with aging for decades. As with other patients, we diagnose the ailment, determine what's causing it, and then choose from a variety of gentle therapeutic techniques to alleviate it.
